Preserving American Musical Culture

Our Mission

The Maginus Project produces state-of-the-art recordings of culturally significant American music. Our mission is to find and record musical artists who make outstanding contributions to our culture, yet who fall outside the bounds of the for-profit recording industry.

We provide funding development, production services, and financial oversight from inception to completion for each recording we sponsor. And all the recordings we produce belong solely to the artists -- the Maginus Project retains no ownership interest in them.

"Because music evaporates as soon as it is produced, humans, seeking permanence in life’s ephemera, have long sought ways to record and reproduce it."
-Hope Lourie Killcoyne

Sound is king

We believe that exceptional music represents the best of what we are as a people, and that high-quality recordings have lasting value. Our process ensures that the recordings we curate are of the highest possible musical caliber and audio fidelity. Here's how we do it...

  • We Find Artists

Artists propose projects for sponsorship. We strive to curate a well balanced catalog of culturally significant and diverse music.

  • We Plan the project

Once an artist's project is selected, we empower them to create by acting as executive producers of their project. We oversee all aspects of physical production, scheduling, budgeting, and mastering to ensure the project's success.

  • We execute the project

Oversight is critical to the production of a high-quality recording. Financial, creative and technical aspects of production must be guided by an experienced hand. We partner with top industry professionals to provide our artists with stability and momentum throughout the process.

  • We release the project

After recording and post-production are complete, we release the final product into the hands of the artist. The Maginus Project isn’t in the business of profiting from the music we record. All proceeds from the recording belong solely to the artist.
